Abela competed in two events — sparring and patterns. A gold medal came her way in the sparring competition and she finished tied for fifth in patterns.
Planger was a force to be reckoned with as she claimed gold medals in specialty breaking, power breaking, and sparring, and a silver medal in patterns. Planger was also tied for first for top female competitor at Nationals.
