Rebels struggle last week in regular season play

The W.R. Myers Rebels went 0-2 in Deep South league play last week, as the team gears up for zone competition.
It all started last Tuesday with a 90-86 loss at home to Stirling. Myers came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and took a 27-15 lead after one quarter of play. Taber’s offence dried up in the second stanza, as Stirling outscored Myers 24-12, as the teams went into the break tied at 39.
The second half went back and forth, as Myers missed a few key free throws in the fourth quarter, with a chance to trim Stirling’s lead. Myers shot 59 per cent form the charity stripe on the evening.
Despite the loss, Kade Lund had a huge game for Myers, with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Colby Hansen added 15 for Taber, while Colby Torrie had 12 and Carter Moser added 11. Torrie also led the team with five assists.
Last Thursday, Myers suffered a heartbreaking one-point loss to Lethbridge’s Winston Churchill High School, in a game that went right down to the wire.
In the end, WCHS emerged with a 73-72 win, despite a furious Rebels comeback in the fourth quarter.
