The Taber Lost Paws Society has seen its facility reach the one year of operation milestone this February and the group is incredibly excited at how things have gone. While the pandemic has been challenging for everyone, the society was excited to get their facility opened up to provide a shelter for dogs. Since it fully opened in February 2021, operations have been busy, but the group wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Our shelter has been fairly steady in the last year, with our busiest being the first eight months of operations, with the help of our 20 volunteers who come in during the day to help us walk and feed dogs,” explained Carolyn Terpstra, society president. “Operations during the pandemic have not changed for us a lot, as we only have one or two volunteers in the building at a time to walk/feed dogs. Most of our meetings have and still are Zoom meetings. The challenge that it has faced for us would be fundraising efforts have been postponed due to restrictions, or we have had to do a lot more Facebook fundraising efforts. We have also had volunteers unable to sign up for shifts due to isolation for COVID-19.”
