Taber couple lends a big hand

Posted on September 23, 2020 by Taber Times

Last Sunday, Sept. 13, I was driving back to Calgary from Edmonton. Just past the Lacombe turnoff, my car overheated and I was forced to pull over to the side of the very busy Highway 2. After sitting for about 15 minutes to let the engine cool, a truck stopped behind me. A woman got out and asked if I needed help. I explained my situation, then her husband joined us and had a look under the hood. The couple was heading to Taber following a weekend in Edmonton, so we decided to continue driving, with them following in their truck, and should I need help again, they would pull over with me.

As we got to Red Deer, my car overheated again. I pulled over and the couple fell in behind me. I decided to take my car to the Canadian Tire in Red Deer, and the couple followed me there. Brian, at the Canadian Tire, was able to look at my vehicle that afternoon, but was certain that he would not be able to repair it until at least the following day. The Taber couple offered to give me a ride to Calgary. I left my car at Canadian Tire, and gratefully accepted their very kind offer.

I want to thank Lindsay and Troy Anderson of Taber, Alberta for their kindness and generosity in helping a complete stranger, in a scary situation, on the side of the crazy busy Highway 2. I cannot imagine what I would have done without them. They were my guardian angels that day. They already had a long drive from Edmonton to Taber, but did not hesitate to take the extra time to help me. With everything going on in this world right now, it is incredibly reassuring to know that there is still goodness out there.

Thank you, Lindsay and Troy. Words cannot express just how much I appreciate all you did for me last Sunday. Thank you for everything.
