The Taber Times is unveiling a new feature in its pages, with a play on words in Poll Position.
But unlike race cars trying to get a pole position in an event, it will be a weekly poll enabling readers to give a yes or no answer to issues of the week that may affect them on a municipal, provincial, or even federal level.
“You hear concerns from people on coffee row, this is a way to centralize those concerns while also engaging our readers more on our paper, online and website options in letting people get a feel for the pulse of the community,” said Greg Price, managing editor of the Taber Times. “And perhaps if we get enough traction on it, it will give notice to those powers that be to move in a certain direction on certain issues.”
Readers will be able to reply to the poll by returning a paper response, the website online format, or by emailing the editor at gprice@tabertimes.com. Polls will be open for response on a week-by-week basis until the new poll is published.
“We want to give as many options as possible to give our readers a say as not every person has access to a computer,” said Price.
The poll and results from the previous poll will be located on the front page of the Taber Times.
