The Opinion headline (July 31) says “public sector pay is getting out of whack” and it says “gone are the days where a safe government job meant taking less pay because of the generous benefit of pension schemes, the luxurious benefits are still there and now the pay is out of all proportion to the private sector, and they are struggling to make ends meet.”
I commend Opinion for discussing this touchy issue. All I can say is that I hope our public sector unions will consider that Opinion headline in their wage negotiations, so the unions and all of us should also consider the mounting provincial debt. Then my question is, are we all OK with unloading that debt to our grand kids? Just wondering.
