Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns (19-7-2) had a strong weekend of South Central Alberta Hockey League play, winning both of its games.
Friday’s road game was a 5-2 victory over Okotoks Oilers Green (16-14-0).
Brady Magarrell and Kade Duell each had two goals apiece, and Colby Gulliver notched a single. Duell also had three assists.
Kahil Wright earned the win in net for the Golden Suns, facing 27 shots on goal.
Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns returned home on Saturday afternoon and recorded a 6-4 victory over Airdrie Lighting White (3-23-1) at the Taber Arena.
Magarrell and Duell each had two goals apiece and Bowman Klippenstein and Aidyn Law had singles. Duell registered three assists.
Brylin Noble faced 25 shots on net for the win in goal.
BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns (10-16-5) split its pair of SCAHL games on the weekend.
The first was a big 5-2 victory over the favoured Lethbridge Hurricanes (20-5-5) at the Taber Arena on Saturday evening.
Rylan Millo tallied twice for the Golden Suns who got singles from Nathan Verloop, Jaxon Nault and Riley Preachuk. Hunter VanVaernbergh had two assists.
Landon Porteous faced 45 shots on goal for the win.
The team then suffered a 6-2 loss to Medicine Hat Hounds (17-11-3) at the Taber Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Millo and Brinley Degenstein scored for the Suns.
Scout Sidam was peppered with 46 shots on net in the loss.
MIDGET: Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns (15-10-4) skated to a win and a tie in SCAHL play on the weekend.
The tie came against CBHA Blackhawks (7-3-3-) in a 4-4 draw on Friday night at the Taber Arena.
D.J. Tonin potted two goals and Jayden Kostiuk and Dallas Bodnar both had singles.
Brogan Booth and Kolby James each had two assists apiece. Ethan Barrows had a busy night in net to preserve the tie, stopping 44 of 48 shots on net.
The team then earned a 4-1 win against CBHA Rangers (7-4-2) on the road on Sunday.
Tonin, Mason Sande, J.D. Hall and Kole Fujita scored for the Suns. Sande also drew two assists.
Gage Reimer was solid in net, stopping 34 of 35 shots to earn the win.
